Will you join us in raising awareness of myositis by informing your friends, family, and the public about myositis? TMA’s new, comprehensive toolkit makes it easier than ever to raise awareness this May—and all year round.

The toolkit contains sections about social media basics, storytelling, visual elements, community outreach, media coverage, proclamations, and fundraising. It’s your guide as you…

  • Tell your story: Take every opportunity to talk about myositis to your friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors. Share the impact of myositis, your struggles and your victories.
  • Build your myositis community on social media: During Myositis Awareness Month 2024, TMA recommends these hash tags: #MyositisAwareness #MyositisAwarenessMonth #MAM2024 #TheMyositisAssociation #MyTMA. Like, comment, follow, and share other patients’ content to reinforce our compassionate and supportive community. And don’t forget TMA is on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and LinkedIn!
  • Become a member: Join us as a TMA member to stay up-to-date on myositis news, research, clinical trials, and more. Plus, you’ll have access to TMA support and affinity groups.
  • Contribute: Love what TMA does? Make a gift, either directly to TMA, or through one of the many campaigns initiated by TMA members, to help advance our mission and ongoing education efforts.

Spread the Word on Social Media and in Your Community

Through your social network, you can show your support and spread the word. Use TMA’s social media graphics to feature Myositis Awareness Month on your own profile image, banner, or story (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). We also have an “Ask Me about Myositis” asset to share your story, and an “I Donate for Myositis Awareness” asset to promote TMA’s mission.

Spread awareness about myositis in your community! TMA has downloadable “Ask Me about Myositis” signs in two sizes. TMA also offers an “I Love Someone with Myositis” sign for your care partner, friends, family, or neighbors to display.

One size can be printed at your local print shop at 18×24 inches for a lawn sign. The smaller size is 8.5×11 inches, so it’s easily printed at home or work. Tape one in your window or pin to the bulletin board at your neighborhood coffee shop. Both PDF and PNG file types are available for each sign and size.

Myositis Awareness Month is for Medical Professionals, Too

Thank your care team with a short note, and consider what else you can do. Many myositis patients are first diagnosed and referred to a specialist by dermatologists, internists, family doctors, and nurse practitioners. Reach out to healthcare providers in your community with these tips, and share the following TMA resources.
