Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor Labor Conflict

The Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, TMA’s 2024 conference host hotel, is experiencing a labor disruption during negotiations with the UNITE HERE union. More than 40,000 hotel workers with UNITE HERE are renegotiating contracts this year in more than 20 cities across the U.S. and Canada. Strike votes and strikes already have been approved in several other states. The developing situation is impacting Hilton as well as Marriott and Hyatt hotels nationwide. On Sept. 2, the union announced a one-day strike, which is not expected to impact TMA’s conference. TMA is in close contact with the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor, and General Manager Greg Brown expressed to TMA, “Please rest assured the hotel has contingency plans in place to ensure operations continue to run as smoothly as possible.” TMA appreciates the commitment of the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor to swiftly resolving the strike with a fair agreement for all parties. TMA continues to look forward to the International Annual Patient Conference. Please email IAPC@myositis.org with any questions or concerns.

About TMA’s Conference

This always unforgettable event features dozens of myositis specialists and expert presenters on everything related to myositis, its treatment, and how you can live your best life with these debilitating diseases. We have educational workshops, research-based presentations, breakout sessions for all stages of the myositis journey, content for care partners, information about clinical trials, and much more!

While the value of our educational sessions and exhibit floor cannot be underestimated, for many attendees the chance to meet and make friends with others who have their disease has been life-changing. TMA’s International Annual Patient Conference provides one of the only opportunities to connect with the myositis community in this way. It’s one reason many attendees return to this gathering year after year.

The official conference hash tag is #IAPC2024.

Conference scholarships are presented annually. Applications closed June 10. You must be a member of TMA to apply for a conference scholarship. Join TMA now and plan for IAPC 2025.

All conference attendees are strongly urged to book your hotel rooms exclusively through the official hotel booking link provided in your conference registration confirmation email. Recently, there has been an increase in third-party booking scams that appear to offer legitimate accommodations but ultimately defraud guests. Protect yourself and ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience by avoiding these fraudulent offers and booking directly through the link provided by TMA. Your security and peace of mind are TMA’s top priorities.

TMA continues to remember Baltimore following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26, 2024. TMA has deep roots in Maryland, with Baltimore our 2024 host city for the International Annual Patient Conference and Columbia our headquarters location. Our hearts are with all our members, staff (current and past), friends and family in and around Baltimore.
