After Laurie Boyer’s older brother Tommy passed away from dermatomyositis in 2012, she and other members of her family created a foundation to provide financial assistance to myositis patients as a way to fulfill her brother’s wish to help others with this rare disease. Since that time, Laurie has been a fervent supporter of TMA and its mission-driven work. She lives in Port St. Lucie, Florida where she is VP, Digital Strategy & Innovation for Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County. She has been happily married to her firefighter husband Wayne for over 20 years and they have two children, a high school daughter Pippi and a University of Florida Gator son Derek. She enjoys spending her free time attending their music and sport competitions.
