Shagufa Hossain is a capital markets partner in the Washington, D.C., office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP. Shagufa represents private equity firms and their portfolio companies, investment banks, and public and private companies in debt and equity financing and other transactions. She helps clients across the business lifecycle — from the earliest stages to maturity — navigate market conditions and devise effective capital structures. Shagufa also regularly advises clients and non-profits on a pro bono basis.
Shagufa was diagnosed with dermatomyositis in 2020, and since then has worked to try and bring greater awareness about the condition and look for ways to support the development of treatments.
