Raised: $620.00 Goal: $500.00

May is Myositis Awareness Month.
May is Mother’s Day.
May is when Mum went to rest.
May will always be special. 🤍

Mum was certainly not one to talk about herself or her illness, but was passionate about wanting there to be a greater understanding of her complicated, misunderstood, rare disease: Dermatomyositis.

Mum’s hope was to raise awareness & assist research, for better treatment, understanding & one day a cure, for this group of rare diseases.

So… I’m inviting people to join me in honouring mum by supporting ‘Helen’s Hope’

I’m raising money for The Myositis Organisation and your contribution, no matter how small, will make an impact.

I’ve decided to set my own personal challenge by walking 200km in May (approx. 7.1 km per day) finishing on the 28th – the one year anniversary of mums passing.

It will be a challenge of consistency & discipline, a time of reflection, and commitment each day to acknowledging mums strength, love and resilience to ‘living one day at a time with gratitude’ – no matter what life throws at you!

After surviving Cancer in 1999, Mum was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis (DM) in 2006. Her positive outlook & determination saw her survive well beyond medical expectation.

Walking was something mum persisted with throughout her illness to keep her muscles moving, maintain mobility, and her own physical independence, for as long as possible. She defied all expectations & odds against her, leaving her mark as a fierce, independent inspiration!

You will forever be my hero mum! 🤍
